BBF Responds to Hurricane Katrina
August 30, 2005
Brother's Brother Foundation (BBF) is sending the first of many tractor trailer load of assistance to those in need due to Hurricane Katrina. A donation of 5,000-plus pairs of new shoes donated by CROCS Inc. of Boulder, Colorado will be sent by the CROCS Corporation. Tia Williams-Mattson, PR Manager of CROCS, said the company is dedicated to helping hurricane victims in this hour of need. “We hope that something as simple as a new pair of shoes can be of some small comfort to those who have lost so much in this disaster,” said Williams-Mattson. Donations from BBF will be distributed through the Church of Latter Day Saints and others. Additional shipments of new clothing and hygiene items donated by American Outpost and PSSI Stadium Corporation will be sent soon. BBF is requesting only financial support (no clothing or food) to send additional emergency aid as quickly as possible
BBF, a 52-year old Pittsburgh-based international charity, has provided over $3.4 billion of medical supplies, textbooks, food, seeds, and other humanitarian supplies to people around the world in over 140 countries. With the help of gifts from the general public, corporations and the US government, in 2009 BBF sent product contributions to those in need in 70 countries including Argentina, Dominican Republic, Ethiopia, Ghana, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, India, Jamaica, Malawi, Nicaragua, Peru, Philippines, Rwanda and Vietnam. These shipments were the equivalent of 319 tractor trailer loads. Also in 2009, BBF furnished supplies for 265 medical and humanitarian hand-carry mission trips.
