Proposal: Continued funding of Agustin Stahl High School reconstruction in Puerto Rico

Background: On August 3rd, the BBF Executive Committee approved a $64,000 grant for Agustin Stahl High School in Bayamon, Puerto Rico. Raul Rodriguez, head of the Luis Garraton company, was to add an additional $25,000 for funding. The money was targeted for reconstruction efforts, as the school was hard-hit by Hurricane Maria. The budget was developed by Luis Garraton and based on projected repair work costs. On October 10th, BBF received an updated budget from Luis Garraton. The new financial total includes building two to four smart classrooms, reparation of wooden floors, and an increased cost for electrical work. There is no final quote as of yet, as Luis Garraton is awaiting a response from their contractor.

Rationale: Raul Rodriguez has pledged a further $10,000 for the schools from his end. Additional funds from BBF will ensure project completion, and that the Agustin Stahl High School is able to provide a quality education to their student population. The end goal is to have the school be even better than it was prior to the hurricane.

The improvements on the updated budget have been selected in coordination with the school management, meaning they are beneficiary-driven and will be of high importance.

  1. Two to four smart classrooms: $24,000-$48,000
