Spotlight on our Partner: Project Theia

In Blog by Brother's Brother Foundation

Doctors Jenny Yu and Katie Duncan are world travelers with a mission. Their non-profit organization, Project Theia, has helped hundreds of patients in underserved areas of the world. The organization is named after the Greek goddess of sight and heavenly light, Theia, a fitting symbol for a group led by two oculoplastic surgeons who specialize in eye and facial reconstructive surgeries.

Not only does Project Theia travel to serve those without access to specialized healthcare, but they support sustainable development in the regions where they volunteer, providing education to local surgeons and teaching best practices in the area of oculoplastic and facial surgery. The goal is to ensure that the people benefiting from Project Theia will continue to have the healthcare that they need.

Jenny and Katie’s successful trips to Ghana and India will be followed by another trip to Ghana this coming September. Accompanied by members of the Brother’s Brother Foundation team, they will be performing surgeries, doing checkups, and distributing medicine in several Ghanaian health clinics. They hope to expand their impact and deepen their partnerships with healthcare providers in Ghana.

Brother’s Brother Foundation is excitedly awaiting the trip to Ghana in order to assess how our donations are helping the people there, contributing to our objective of building futures around the world. We are grateful for our partnership with Project Theia and happy to provide them with the necessary tools they need to fulfill their goal of bringing sight to life.
