BBF Grant Helps Provide Winterized Tents for Displaced Families in Gaza
BBF has provided a grant to Life for Relief and Development (LIFE) to support the procurement and distribution of winterized tents for displaced families in Gaza, where the need for safe shelter remains urgent. According to the U.N. Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), about 91 percent of all homes in Gaza are now destroyed or damaged, leaving the majority of the population without permanent housing.
While daytime temperatures in Gaza are generally warm year-round, conditions shift dramatically between November and March. Nighttime temperatures frequently fall below 50 degrees Fahrenheit, and these same months bring the highest levels of rainfall. For families already coping with displacement, exposure to cold and wet weather adds another layer of hardship and health risk, particularly for children and older adults.
With BBF’s support, LIFE will procure and distribute winterized tents designed to offer greater protection from the colder conditions ahead. These tents are being provided to families who have been forced to flee their homes and are currently without a secure place to stay. LIFE has already constructed eight tent camps in Gaza, and the organization received the Dubai Humanitarian Award at DIHAD this year for its Gaza tent camp project. Photos below show how this shelter assistance is helping displaced families maintain safety and stability despite the ongoing crisis.

Through this grant, BBF is helping ensure that families in Gaza have better shelter as they face the coming winter months. The winterized tents provide a measure of safety and dignity for those who have lost so much, offering immediate relief while longer-term recovery remains uncertain.
