BBF Global Relief partnered with LIFE for Relief and Development to install 10 latrines in Rafah and Deir al-Balah, creating private, designated areas for 1,000 displaced people to use the restroom.
Nearly 2 million people in Gaza have been displaced from their homes. People living in tent encampments sometimes walk 20 minutes before reaching a latrine, and, when they do, face lines up to an hour long.
The lack of sanitation has led to outbreaks of diseases including Hepatitis A, according to the World Health Organization.

BBF and LIFE have completed several projects together since the onset of the war in the Middle East, providing food to over 2,000 people in Rafah and middle Gaza and tents to 70 others in Khan Yunis.
“Providing a tent or the minimum requirements of humanity, such as the ability to use toilets or even provision of meals that save the starving from death, means saving lives that were almost lost in light of the difficult humanitarian situation of the people of Gaza,” says Omar Elridi, the Gaza emergency programs manager for LIFE.
