Delivering Critical Care to Communities in Ogun State, Nigeria
In June 2024, the National Council of Nigerian Muslim Organizations (NCNMO) conducted a medical-surgical outreach in Ibiade and Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria. Their trip addressed critical healthcare needs by providing diagnosis and treatment for chronic diseases, offering medical and health education, and performing minor surgical procedures. With a strategic focus on healthcare education, infrastructure support, and assistance with medical equipment and supplies, NCNMO worked to strengthen local healthcare systems while delivering direct patient care.
The outreach included comprehensive medical, dental, and vision services, along with public health education and training for local healthcare professionals. Hundreds of patients, from newborns to seniors, received care for conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, infections, and joint pain. A 100-bed hospital in a suburban area served as a key facility, ensuring patients had access to critical medical support.
BBF supported their trip by providing essential medicines, including treatments for high blood pressure, cholesterol-lowering medications, arthritis relief, antifungals, antibiotics, corticosteroids, and other necessary pharmaceuticals. These medications played a crucial role in ensuring patients received appropriate treatment for their conditions.
