One Of The Largest Global Efforts For Wuhan Leaving Pittsburgh Today

ABC_0044-min

Brother’s Brother Foundation (BBF) will be shipping one of the largest global relief packages combatting the Coronavirus to China from their Northside location today with global giant Alibaba, Air China, and a coalition of Pittsburgh organizations.

The shipment of 450,000 surgical face masks and 1,350 coverall protective suits begins its journey today. It will be distributed across Wuhan, Huang Gang, Beijing, and Chengdu provinces to hospitals treating COVID-19 patients. These are the areas with the highest concentrations of Coronavirus patients.

Global efforts to provide material aid have been dramatically impacted by international shortages of much needed medical supplies including masks, respirators, and other personal protective equipment. These items are crucial to ensuring the safety of healthcare workers providing care to patients.

An incredible team of global organizations have come together to ensure the safe delivery of these desperately needed supplies. Global conglomerate Alibaba has generously donated their logistics and delivery capabilities within China. Air China is providing air freight from JFK to China. The Chinese Consul’s office in New York has provided guidance throughout the process. Members of CAST-P (Chinese Associate for Science and Technology – Pittsburgh) have volunteered their time and talents to coordinate every detail of this effort on a global scale.

Many Pittsburgh organizations and leaders have mobilized support and guidance for the overall efforts to aid our Sister City. Brother’s Brother is grateful for the efforts of Mayor Peduto, County Executive Fitzgerald, Idea Foundry, UPMC, Allegheny Health Network, and Sister Cities to coordinate this extraordinary support.

Ongoing needs analyses are currently underway across the region as the situation evolves and BBF will remain in constant communication with its on-ground partners. Shipments will continue as long as needs persist and resources are available.

100% of funds received for this effort will be used to support emergency relief and logistics to affected areas. Donations to assist with relief efforts are greatly appreciated. Credit card donations can be made here. Checks should be made to the Brother’s Brother Foundation and sent to:
