Shipment Supplies Medical Brigades In El Salvador

Fundación Una Mano Amiga (FUMA) distributed pharmaceuticals to 15 medical organizations in El Salvador, following the arrival of a 20-foot container shipment from Brother’s Brother Foundation.

El Salvador’s low doctor-to-patient ratio limits the population’s access to medical care and medicine, especially for people who live in rural regions where medical facilities are almost nonexistent. To receive medical attention, families in these areas—many of which live in poverty—must incur travel costs to get to medical facilities in more densely populated areas and, as a result, skimp on other necessities needed to survive.

BBF’s extensive supply of medicine allowed FUMA to send nine pallets of aid to an additional institution, Destacamento Militar Numero 6. Affiliated with El Salvador’s military, Destacamento Militar Numero 6 operates medical brigades that provide food and care to many of the country’s remote regions. Albuterol and antibiotics were particularly helpful to patients, as lower respiratory infections and COPD are among some of the leading causes of death in El Salvador.

Thank you Cross Catholic Outreach for your partnership on this shipment.
