BBF Provides Emergency Shelter for Families Displaced by Pakistan Floods
In 2025, Punjab Province in Pakistan experienced some of the worst flooding in decades. Heavy monsoon rains and the overflow of major rivers—including the Sutlej, Chenab, and Ravi—submerged large portions of the region, destroying homes, livestock, and farmland. The floods left hundreds of thousands displaced and caused severe economic and humanitarian hardship.

Among the hardest hit areas were Alipur in Muzaffargarh and Uch Sharif in Bahawalpur District. In Alipur, 11 of 14 union councils were submerged, while in Uch Sharif nearly 900 houses were reported severely damaged. Across both areas, roads and bridges were destroyed, crops were wiped out, and entire communities were left without shelter or means of recovery.
To help meet the urgent needs of affected families, Brother’s Brother Foundation provided a grant to Life for Relief and Development (LIFE) to support emergency shelter efforts. In coordination with local authorities and community representatives, LIFE conducted field assessments to identify the most vulnerable households. Through this effort, 105 emergency shelter tents were distributed to families who had lost their homes completely, providing immediate protection from rain, sun, and harsh weather conditions.

The impact of this effort can be seen in the experiences of families such as Imaam Buksh, Atta Ullah, and Noor Muhammad, who each lost their homes to the floods. Imaam and his family were forced to take refuge on higher ground when their village was submerged; with the provision of a relief tent, they now have safety and stability as rebuilding plans move forward. Atta Ullah’s family received a tent that offered much-needed protection and dignity during a time of great uncertainty. Noor Muhammad, from a small village in Uch Sharif, and his neighbors had been living in makeshift shelters made from household silos before being identified as priority cases for emergency support. The tents provided to these families offered critical shelter and relief during the long recovery process.
These temporary shelters offer displaced families a measure of safety and stability as longer-term reconstruction plans take shape. BBF’s support for this project underscores its ongoing commitment to helping communities recover from natural disasters by addressing urgent humanitarian needs and laying the groundwork for recovery.
