BBF Responds to Hurricanes Milton and Helene

Flooding in Tampa Bay following a hurricane

After Hurricane Milton’s destructive landfall in Tampa Bay, BBF is working quickly to provide much-needed support to affected communities. Prior to the storm, we provided a grant to Feeding Tampa Bay to help them prepare for the anticipated needs of their community.

“Thank you so much for reaching out and supporting Feeding Tampa Bay during this difficult time. [Yesterday] a large portion of our team [handed] out MREs and bottles of water to help families who [weren’t] able to evacuate for this storm. Your continued support will be critical in helping us address the needs of our neighbors during this difficult time.” – Feeding Tampa Bay

BBF will monitor Hurricane Milton’s impact and remains ready to provide additional grants and shipments of essential supplies as recovery efforts progress. We are grateful for partners like Feeding Tampa Bay and their dedication to ensuring that families in harm’s way are not left without support.

Meanwhile, our efforts continue in response to the devastation left by Hurricane Helene, which caused widespread damage across the southeastern United States. BBF has committed over $100,000 in grants to food banks serving the regions most affected. These funds have been distributed to organizations including Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest NC, Middle Georgia Community Food Bank, Second Harvest of the Big Bend, Feeding Tampa Bay, Manna Food Bank, and Golden Harvest Food Bank Inc. These food banks are playing a vital role in providing meals and emergency food supplies to families struggling to recover from the storm’s aftermath.

In addition to these grants, BBF has dispatched two truckloads of critical supplies from our warehouse to Asheville, North Carolina, and to Macon, Georgia. The trucks are delivering more than 75,000 bottles of water, along with 2,520 bottles of BOOST Nutritional Drink and nearly 1,800 hygiene kits. These supplies will help meet the immediate needs of families coping with power outages, water shortages, and the loss of basic household necessities.

Thanks to the generous support of partners such as Giant Eagle, Highmark/AHN, MSA, Owens & Minor, and the Pittsburgh community, we are already preparing additional shipments. These will include blankets, diapers, cleaning supplies, PPE, and more hygiene products to ensure ongoing relief reaches the areas that need it most. Additionally, BBF has partnered with UPMC physicians to assess the mental health impacts of Hurricane Helene and provide oxygen containers for elderly populations affected by the disaster.

BBF remains in close communication with our partners on the ground, ensuring that we can rapidly assess needs and deploy resources where they are most critical.

Your support is vital to these efforts. 100% of all funds donated to BBF’s disaster relief efforts go directly to emergency relief and logistics. To make a donation:
