BBF Sends Out First Shipment in Response to California Wildfires

In response to the ongoing wildfires in Southern California, BBF is delivering critical supplies to support impacted communities. Today, we sent 26 pallets of N95 masks to the Food Bank of Southern California, equipping residents with essential protection against the hazardous air quality caused by the fires.

The smoke and ash from these fires pose significant health risks, particularly for vulnerable populations, including children, seniors, and individuals with respiratory conditions. N95 masks provide effective protection against the particulate matter in wildfire smoke, helping to safeguard the health of those in the affected communities.

Tomorrow, BBF will send additional relief, including hygiene kits and bottled water, to the LA Regional Food Bank. This shipment, provided in part by Giant Eagle and AHN, will address pressing needs for clean water and personal care supplies. These resources are essential to maintaining health and dignity during prolonged evacuations and recovery efforts.

“We deeply appreciate the generosity of our donors and the partnership of AHN and Giant Eagle in supporting BBF’s relief efforts,” said Ozzy Samad, President of BBF Global Relief.

The wildfires across the Los Angeles region have been catastrophic, claiming the lives of at least 24 people, destroying over 12,000 structures, and scorching more than 60 square miles of land. The Palisades and Eaton wildfires, the largest and most destructive, continue to burn uncontrollably.

Forecasters have issued “particularly dangerous situation” red flag wind warnings, with extreme fire weather expected through Wednesday. High winds, combined with dry conditions, are fueling the fires and complicating containment efforts. As of Monday morning, 92,000 people in Los Angeles County were under evacuation orders, and curfews remain in place for the hardest-hit areas from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Your support makes this work possible. Together, we can continue to provide relief and help rebuild communities affected by these devastating wildfires. 100% of funds received for BBF’s wildfire response will go directly toward supporting emergency relief efforts and logistics.
