BBF Supports Earthquake Response in Venezuela
In late June 2026, a series of powerful earthquakes struck Venezuela, causing widespread destruction and overwhelming healthcare facilities. The disaster claimed more than 4,500 lives, injured more than 16,000 people, and left hospitals facing an urgent need for medical supplies.
In response, Brother’s Brother Foundation awarded a disaster response grant to the Venezuelan American Medical Association (VAMA) Foundation to help deliver essential medicines and medical supplies to hospitals and health centers treating earthquake survivors.
Rather than shipping supplies internationally, the grant supports the purchase and distribution of medicines and medical supplies sourced within Venezuela. This approach allows VAMA to respond quickly while strengthening local supply chains and ensuring resources reach the communities with the greatest need. Through its network of physicians across the country, the organization is coordinating deliveries to hospitals and health centers caring for those injured by the earthquakes.
Founded in 1996, the Venezuelan American Medical Association brings together Venezuelan physicians practicing in the United States who share a commitment to improving healthcare access in Venezuela. Through the VAMA Foundation, established in 2018, the organization uses real-time data to identify healthcare needs, supports medical missions, and helps strengthen the country’s healthcare system. Following the June earthquakes, VAMA shifted its immediate focus to providing critical medicines and medical supplies to healthcare facilities serving affected communities.
