BBF Supports the Second Phase of Water Project in Ghana

Brother’s Brother Foundation (BBF) has provided a grant to Hope for Ghana to support the second phase of a major clean water project in Jarigu, located in Ghana’s Northern Region. This stage focuses on the electrical and mechanical installation now underway and represents a critical step toward delivering safe, sustainable water access to more than 8,000 people in Jarigu and surrounding villages.

Hope for Ghana is dedicated to transforming lives in rural communities through education, healthcare, and access to clean water. In Jarigu, where approximately 3,000 residents — along with 5,000 more in neighboring communities — rely on a single dam for their water supply, the need is urgent. The existing dam runs dry during the dry season, and when water is present, it is often contaminated, shared with animals, and linked to widespread waterborne disease.

The second phase centers on water treatment and protection. The project includes installing filtration and chlorination systems to ensure the water is safe for drinking. To prevent contamination, the dam will be fenced to keep animals out, with a separate designated drinking area created for livestock. A hygienic, community water-fetching point will also be constructed to provide safer and more efficient access for families.

With electrical and mechanical components currently being installed, the project is expected to be completed in late summer 2026. Once finished, the improved system will provide year-round access to treated water, strengthening public health and supporting long-term stability for thousands of residents.
