Daltorio School Construction Advances Educational Opportunities in Rural Zambia

Brother’s Brother Foundation recently received the final grant report from Muyunda A Orphanage Home detailing the progress of BBF’s support for the construction of Daltorio School in rural Zambia. The report highlights how the grant helped advance the completion of the school and move the project closer to providing a safe, well-equipped learning environment for vulnerable children in the Simoonga community.

Located on the outskirts of Livingstone, Zambia, Muyunda A Orphanage Home serves orphaned and vulnerable children living in the rural community of Simoonga. Recognizing that many children in the area faced long journeys to reach the nearest school or lacked access to adequate educational facilities altogether, the organization established Daltorio School to bring quality education closer to home.

The school is being developed to serve orphans and children from low-income families by providing a safe, accessible, and supportive learning environment where students can receive a quality education regardless of their circumstances. Once completed, Daltorio School will improve access to education for children from Simoonga and neighboring villages while helping address the shortage of classroom space and basic educational resources in this remote region.

BBF’s grant supported the continued construction of the school and the purchase of essential classroom furnishings and learning materials. Funding helped equip classrooms with student desks, teachers’ tables and chairs, chalkboards or whiteboards, and other necessities that will allow students to learn in a functional and dignified environment.

According to the final report, construction has continued to move forward, bringing the school closer to opening its doors to students. The addition of classroom furniture and educational materials represents an important milestone, ensuring that once construction is complete, classrooms will be prepared to support effective teaching and learning from the first day of operation.

When completed, Daltorio School will provide lasting benefits for children throughout the surrounding communities by reducing travel distances, expanding educational access, and creating opportunities for academic success. For many students, the school will represent their first opportunity to attend classes in a safe, properly equipped learning environment designed to support their long-term growth and future success.
