Grant Supports Life-Saving Medicines for Children in Pakistan

ChildLife Grant March26

Brother’s Brother Foundation (BBF) has provided a grant to support the purchase of essential medicines for pediatric emergency rooms operated by the ChildLife Foundation in Pakistan.

ChildLife Foundation works within government hospitals to strengthen pediatric emergency care and improve outcomes for critically ill children. Pakistan faces one of the highest under five mortality rates in the world, with more than 1,000 children dying each day from largely preventable causes. Many families rely on overcrowded public hospitals where specialized pediatric care and medicines can be limited.

Through its model of transforming pediatric emergency rooms inside government hospitals, ChildLife has significantly improved survival rates for children requiring urgent care. Mortality in these emergency departments has fallen from approximately 12 percent to 1.2 percent. Today, ChildLife operates 14 tertiary care pediatric emergency rooms and manages a telemedicine network that connects hospitals in more than 300 cities to pediatric specialists around the clock. These services provide access to care for nearly 90 percent of the country’s children and treat more than two million patients each year at no cost to families.

BBF’s grant will help fund the purchase of life-saving medicines used in these emergency departments, ensuring that children arriving in critical condition can receive treatment without delay. By supporting access to essential medications, the grant helps strengthen the capacity of these emergency rooms to respond to some of the most urgent pediatric cases.
